Mobile Core Engineer​

We are really excited to be ready for a mobile core engineer to come and join our team, working with our Head of Network Operations to develop the next stage of our technology development and network services.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the deployment of a 5G Standalone Core Solution in the Maritime Environment
  • Responsible for the deployment of OSS monitoring / Service Assurance tooling to support the core
  • Responsible for configuration of the security and/or other services necessary to support the core
  • Scope, design and support the implementation of the core in a greenfield environment
  • Participate in core selection, upgrade and procurement/purchasing decisions
  • Participate in Product Development and Project Rollout (Design, Build, Test and Deploy)
  • Work with the RAN Engineering and IT teams to enable an and-to-end solution
  • Provide technical leadership to the software and hardware development teams
  • Act as an escalation point during operational issues
  • Ensure platform is redundant and has high uptime (Five 9) characteristics.
  • Support the creation of operational processes within the business for all supporting business customer and end-consumer journeys utilizing the platform (joining the network, changing service, help/self-care, paying for service and departing network)
  • Interface with and manage vendors or partners in the solution

 

Experience:

  • Minimum seven years of experience in building and running mobile core technologies
  • Proven experience in running high-availability cloud-based telecoms solutions with supporting tooling
  • 5G Mobile Core architecture, 5G Voice, messaging or popular internet communication service architecture.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, including IP MPLS, BGP, OSPF…
  • Experience of Billing Integration, Real time rating and charging
  • Internet architecture including IP Networks, IP routing and IP Security Principle
  • Good working knowledge of Mobile Service Platforms, Smartphones, Mobile Broadband devices (modems, routers) and related applications
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and deploying enterprise-grade mobile solutions 

 

Skills:

  • Pro-active individual with the ability and desire to work in an established yet growing start-up environment without the support of larger telecommunication companies processes and methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate to customer and internal stakeholders, via presentation and other documentation types, both remotely and in-person
  • A team builder, who will facilitate inter-team communication and build their own.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • E-TOM qualifications will greatly aid the implementation of the technology
  • Experience of ISO27001 or comparable Cybersecurity standards

Salary Range: TBC

Working Hours: 40 hours/week

Location: Ideally based in Farnborough with some flexibility for hybrid working. Will also require some travel for meetings and events, both in the UK and internationally.

Reporting: This role will report to the Head of Network Operations
